The Director General of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has reaffirms NITDA’s commitment towards capacity building of young Nigerian citizens to enable them identify and utilise their potentials thereby creating avenue for a swift growth and development of Information Technology (IT) as well as job creation and a revenue flow for the economy.
Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami made this known while receiving the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) Abuja Chapter led by the Chairman, Mr. Ayodeji Rex Abitogun on a courtesy visit to the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Headquarters Abuja.
In his remarks, the Director General pledged support for the diversification of the Nigeria economy which will aid it growth and also improve the citizen’s standard of living, thus paving way for all round national development.
Speaking on the full implementation of IT policies in the country, he assured NCS Abuja of the Agency’s support and collaboration with the enthusiasm to take ICT to a greater height. He further disclosed NITDA’s plans to encourage the States to establish State Information Technology Development Agency (SITDA) with the aim to fast track the growth of ICT at various state levels which is in line with the change mantra of the present administration in diversifying the economy.
The chairman NCS Abuja Chapter Mr. Ayodeji Rex Abitogun congratulated Dr. Ali Isa Ibrahim Pantami on his appointed as the Director General of NITDA. He said Information Technology (IT) is a key tool in national development as it contributes immensely to the national economy. He added that with the high rate of cyber-crime across the globe, there is need to train the younger generation in the area of capacity building which will aid in curbing such problems.
Abitogun seek the support and collaboration of the Agency in the areas of infrastructures, capacity building, and the presentation at the Abuja Chapter Maiden Annual Workshop as well as participation in the “Road walk for IT” and Annual Dinner/Award which will aid in the transformation of the nation to an IT and knowledge based economy; thereby paving way for job creation and a revenue flow for the nation.
Also present during the visit were the Director, Lagos Office of NITDA, Mr Adejube I. Olayinka, Hajia Hadiza Umar of Corporate Communications of NITDA, Bayo Onimode, General Secretary of NCS Abuja. Mr. Gabriel Oladapo, Ruqayat Adeyemi, John Odumesi, Phillip Okoronko and Sunday Songo were also present.
